Anti-virus Software -Any computer which has access to the internet or shares data through the use of CD's, flash drives etc. needs anti-virus software. -The software resides in the active memory of the computer and takes control of it, alerting you of infiltrating viruses. It will rid of such viruses if it can remove them or it will quarantine the infected files and allow you to safely delete the file. -This software may also be used to scan emails, hard drives, CD’s, flash drives, etc. -New viruses are developed daily so making sure your software is updated will help prevent viruses from taking over. -There are many brands of Anti-virus software. |
Firewalls -Firewalls act as a secure barrier between the outside world and your devices. -All traffic to and from your device is monitored and the software determines whether or not such traffic is normal behaviour or a potential security risk. -Such software will also prevent Trojan horse viruses from entering your system as it checks emails for such viruses and will alert you of its attempt. -There are many brands of Firewall software.
